Brent Beard is a third-generation Operating Engineer with over 30 years of hands-on manufacturing experience. He specializes in manufacturing and heavy equipment, designing protective products and material systems for high-risk, real-world environments. His work is focused on building equipment, and materials that work the first time, and keep working, when conditions are tough and failure is not an option.

After successfully selling his previous businesses, Brent doubled down on his core expertise: creating and manufacturing BBOE™ protective systems, proudly made in the United States. Today, BBOE™ manufactures and delivers targeted, high-performance products directly to government customers and the consumer market. Every BBOE™ solution is built with one standard in mind: uncompromising performance, durability, and long-term reliability.

BBOE products are not lab experiments or outsourced ideas. They are designed for real-world use, tight budgets, rough handling, regulations, and environments where failure isn’t an option. Brent is both a hands-on engineer and a practical operator. Over his career, he has developed and manufactured hundreds of products across building materials, automotive, military, law enforcement, and security markets, with many products used around the world.

He leads every stage of product development, from early design and material selection to plant operations, supply chains, compliance, and bringing products to market. Because he understands both engineering and manufacturing, Brent is able to turn ideas into working products that can actually be produced and supported at scale.

Brent also brings decades of experience from security work, private military contracting, and combatives, shaped by a lifelong study of martial disciplines. That real-world experience directly influences how he designs protective products—built by someone who understands both the threats and the realities of manufacturing.

Manufacturing Experience

Brent began his manufacturing career in 1993, working directly on the shop floor and learning the business from the ground up. He trained and worked with major industry names such as Hercules (later acquired by Ashland Inc.) and Great Western Chemical, once the largest privately held chemical distributor in the U.S., both based in Portland, Oregon.

Over time, he worked his way through nearly every role in manufacturing, including:

Independent Product Development

In August 2000, Brent moved full-time into independent product development. For the past 24 years, he has created products for Fortune 500 companies, the U.S. military, law enforcement, homeland security, infrastructure projects, and private entrepreneurs.

His work has been used in retail products, major infrastructure, historic buildings, naval ships, armored vehicles, aircraft, and secured facilities. Many of these products have been commercially successful while still meeting strict performance and regulatory requirements.

Brent continues to sharpen his skills through ongoing education, including advanced coursework through MIT, and continuous industry research. He believes strong manufacturing, innovation, and American-made production are critical to long-term economic strength and national security.
